Frozen Pipes PreventionThe Hudson Valley faces nearly 2 weeks of continuous below freezing temperatures. Not only that — we’re looking at teens and low twenties during the day and single digits every single night.

Extreme low temperatures like these can bring about frozen pipes, which not only create an inconvenience, but can also cause major damage to your property should a pipe burst. Prepare for the frigid temps and prevent your pipes from freezing in your home or business with these tips:

Insulate. If possible, install foam sleeves or heating tape to water pipes that are easily accessible.

Let your faucets drip. Let cold water drip from the faucet to relieve pressure in the system.Frozen Pipes Prevention

Keep the heat on. Keep your thermostat no lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit at all times.

Let the air flow. Open all cabinet doors with pipes inside to keep them warm from the heat from the rest of the house. Keep all the interior doors open as well so that heat can flow throughout your home or building.

We hope you take these measures and stay warm these next two weeks.
